Digital Extremes Debuts Latest Soulframe Fable, The Wreck Of Mestra Carmo, in 14th Preludes Closed Alpha Update
The update, Preludes 14: The Duelo, arrives free for PC, introducing a new story quest, character Pact, weapons, enemies, environments, and more
Digital Extremes launched its latest Soulframe closed Alpha update, Preludes 14: The Duelo, for free on PC today. This Preludes update sets sail toward the new Fable: The Wreck of Mestra Carmo, the Duelo Pact, which introduces new swashbuckling abilities, an extra type of one-handed sword, the rapier, as well as a fresh environment to explore, an additional Siege Encounter to overcome, different enemies to befall, and various quality-of-life improvements.
"Each of these major updates for Soulframe Preludes showcases the bolder creative risks we’re taking this year as development ramps up," said Sarah Asselin, Senior Community Manager. "Our first update of 2026 was focused on shake-ups around progression and game feel, but Preludes 14: The Duelo is here to continue down the path of thrilling new tales that build out Soulframe's world into seafaring corners no one expected us to venture toward. We are planting a lot of seeds for Soulframe's future, and those with spyglasses pointed toward the horizon might be able to tell where we are heading... Notable changes arriving with the Preludes 14: The Duelo update include:
Set sights toward the horizon and seek out the latest Fable, The Wreck Of Mestra Carmo, a new narrative Ancestor quest inviting brave souls to seek out a haunted shipwreck and challenge a long-lost expert fencer. After reconnecting with Mestra Carmo, forge the new Duelo Pact, master powers only pirates are privy to, and weave together materials to craft the Mestra armour set.
Train thy steel and study the swift movements of the latest one-handed sword, the rapier, which can be found in two forms: the elegant Navalha or the intrepid Espadarte. Seek out stashes in the new Mirifuir Castle Siege Encounter or the Fallen Ode Skytower environment, crawling with a new Agari sub-boss, the Rovgot Wyrm.
Brave the recently-arrived threats to obtain other new weapons like the corrupted one-handed sword, Cenotaph, the haunted sword and shield, Lyke-Wake, and the eerie Ode’n staff, Silistavf.
Explore and experiment with the latest quality-of-life features, including five additional Votive side quests at World Tree job boards, a reworked journal UI and codex menu, and a revamped combat loop for Runes’ power activation – now tied to fully-charged heavy attacks. Connect with the first Ancestor, Orlick, with a new progression system focused on discovering lost histories, his past tales, and how he met an untimely fate.
