View Full Version : Registration fails when using an hotmail address

I had this problem for the last 3 days. I registered using my hotmail address and was told I would receive an validation email shortly, but after 3 days nothing. Tried switching my email address to my brother's but still nothing.
Then today I tried my gmail account I just created and it worked right away. Could be a big problem since lots of people use hotmail.

Just tested this myself (by switching my account's e-mail address, which sends out a re-verification e-mail) and I never recieved the e-mail. When I switched it back to my normal address, a Yahoo! one, I got the message right away.
Hopefully it'll be fixed soon, but there's plenty of other places that offer free e-mail addresses for the moment. :\

Thanks for testing and confirming it :). I only really use 1 email address so thought there was something wrong with my email lol.

Tested (And although we all knew the outcome =P) it didn't work. I did it because it's better to say that 3 people tested it rather than 2, right?
I certainly hope they do fix it soon though.

Thanks for the info...we had a problem even with a few people in our office. We'll look into this further...very weird bug.

hey guys, I disabled the need for email confirmation for the time being until I get this sorted out.
Also anyone who was waiting for email confirmation I bumped up to registered status.
Cheers

Sorry to double post, but I think this is relevant enough to warrent it.
Since E-mail verification has been disabled, we've seen a large spike in spam in the off-topic sections. I don't know if they're related (if they're done by bots it might be), but is there some anti-spam guard you can use? I mean, if Email verification can cut down on spam,`worst case scenarion is people'd just have to create a Gmail account, which is free anyway.

Should also try putting it back on and see if the bug is still there, might have been a one time thing. If still failing contact vBulletin.

Just tried it again and seems to be working. Instead of no email it now sends it to the junk folder. If someone else could test this it would be great.

Tested, got it in my junk folder as well. Good to know it works now though =P.
