What an achievement. Wow.
First off, I have every system back to nes and own a 360, PS3 and Wii.
I've played just about every game for every system. I love shooters and play the best, halo 3, rsv, gears.
Dark Sector now sits in my entertainment center right along those greats. I am tempted to say it’s my favorite game of all time.
The amount of character movement and combat ability is just amazing and the dodge, roll and sprint are just about perfect as is the cover system. Right up there with rsv, works very, very well.
The weapons are great, as is the dual wielding with the glaive. The glaive, what an innovation! It deserves an award of its own.
Throw it, explode it, grab electricity, fire, frost. Long range, short range and close quarters. The close quarters combat is especially fun and the aftertouch
and slo-mo effect while using it is brilliant. One of the coolest things I have ever seen in a game. It never gets old.
The bosses are terrific, the music and sound effects moody and effective and visually, it’s without a doubt the best looking game i’ve seen on any platform. It looks better than gears and that’s saying a lot. The bubble shield is a standout.
What else can I say? I’m blown away, I love it and I “get” the game. I demand a sequel.
I’ve started on brutal, it’s tough but even more fun. The added tension from upping the difficulty makes it even more satisfying.
For a hard-core gamer, brutal is the way to go. It’s fun even when I’m getting killed, and I can’t say that about many games.
I could go on and on. Congrats and well done to all.
I debated whether to include these or not (but just so you know I'm not a nutjob or on Digital Extremes payroll) a few nits:
the ai could be better at times. last night i cleared out an area, came around a corner and an enemy was just standing there, unaware. i just walked up behind him and cut him down. seen a few guys running into walls/objects and getting stuck, just not being aware of me, that kind of thing.
not enough money to get all the weapons in a single game is a bummer.
not having the weapons carry over from normal when starting brutal is a letdown.
its tough to know where the grenades are going to end up and there aren't enough of them. they do look great and do tremendous damage when they go off. Bring em on!
can't Blind Fire
can't look down sights of guns or get a scope for the machine guns – this feels quite odd at times when you want to reach out and nail someone. maybe the sniper fixes this but I didn’t have enough money to buy it first time through.
simple Melee Combo Move system for the close fighting would be sweet, maybe a block ability as well.
What did you think? Post a review and let your frends know about this creative and innovative game.
