Hello all,

First of all, Dark Sector is the best game I've seen in a long time, a really long time. I want to congratulate the staff for making this outstanding game.

Though in it's current state, the game will most probably not last. Why? Well, because of two reasons:

1. There is no online multiplayer capability, no serverlist. Players are forced to use VPN software to play over the internet. You cannot customize a whole lot when playing online; think of character customization, skin, weaponry, etc. The game needs more ways for players to interact with eachother.

2. The game needs an editor. This may sound like a cliché, but I've been a long time player of the game Unreal 1. If you google it, then you will find out this game is really old. But a lot of people prefer it over Unreal Tournament (2003/2004/3) and such. Unreal 1 has beaten a lot of games. Simply because it had one of the most extensive editors you could imagine. Players could create their own maps, modifications which basically included everything; make your own weapons, gametypes, add new skins, models, even mod the menu all together. If Dark Sector would were to have an editor by it's side, then it would grow to one of the best games and it would stay there for a very long time.

The reason I am posting this right now is because I - like I already said above - really like the game, and I have a feeling that the game in it's current form won't last to long amongst people.

I think you can agree on me to how frustrating it is after beating the single player mode of a great game, then trying to get a thrill by playing online, which the game does not fully support.

Kind regards,
Soul

PS: This is something aimed at the developers;
I'm a programmer, and I would like to make a php script which can request game information from a server, just like the information in the server list. Could you explain to me which queries I would need to send in order to get a response from a server? Help would be greatly appreciated.

Dark Sector is a good game, but it's a fairly generic action title by most standards. The PC version was ported by a budget developer (Digital Extremes had nothing to do with the porting of the PC version) and is being distributed as a budget game but a budget publisher. This isn't some big AAA release with money and resources behind it. They're not even marketing the PC version as far as I can tell.

Not to be cruel, but in practical reality, neither of those things has even the slightly chance of happening. Editors in general are fairly rare outside of the realm of PC-centric first person shooters. E.g. you don't see editors for "console-style" action games like Assassin's Creed, the Tomb Raider games, Prince of Persia, etc, etc.
